Penrith to have its own Beer Festival as organisers plan the
Penrith Beer Festival that will be held over two days in June this year.
Get ready for a hop-tastic time at Penrith Beer Festival billed
as a boozy extravaganza where you can sample the finest brews and enjoy live
music as organisers plan the Penrith Beer Festival that will be held over two
days in June on the 14th and 15th this year.
Organisers said “Over the last few years we have seen that
there is a need for Penrith to have it's own event, we have lots of things in
the surrounding area bringing in people from all over the country but nothing
truly for the locals Penrith & Eden valley. A lot of towns of this size
have a beer festival so we thought let's put one on for Penrith. “
The festival aims to showcase local producers, breweries,
and distillers. Organisers are already working with a few to produce exclusive
lines for the festival along with plans to put on live music working with
Cumbrian bands to make it a weekend for all.
The festival it's self will be held within “a huge” beer
tent in Frenchfields designed to hold up to 1500 people just in case the
weather doesn't hold up but if the sun is shining organisers of the Penrith
Beer Festival will encourage people to bring down some camp chairs and enjoy
the sun, some great beers and live music throughout the weekend with a mix to
cover all tastes from indie to funk and soul, rock and roll to blues.
The weekends music lineup Includes:
Sparky and The Wailer – Cumbria’s answer to Tom Jones and
Jools Holland.
The Moonshine Shakers - A High Energy 5-Piece band playing
rock n roll/blues/country/bluegrass.
Soul Junction - with its brassy, sassy seven-piece Cumbrian
Soul and Motown band, playing the very best live Soul and Motown dance music.
Pottsy - Well known around Penrith Pottsy playing classic
hits throughout the decades as a solo guitarist.
Indie Street Club - a new, young and exciting Indie-Rock
band who have quickly started to publish their name on the music scene.
Time Machine - Local to Penrith playing classic rock with
blues & rock n' roll to get you on the dance floor.
AKA SKAFELL - the fantastic ska band for that feel good
dance experience.
Joseph one of the Penrith Beer Festival organisers said “In
terms of beer we are working with several local breweries to showcase there
beers throughout the weekend. We will also have some mainstream lagers, ciders,
sprits and wines to cater for everyone!”
“Our goal is to offer something for everyone and to provide
a lively and entertaining atmosphere for the people of Penrith & the
surrounding Eden valley.”
The organisers hope to make the Penrith Beer Festival an
annual event for the town.
