Eden Council submit fresh planning application for Voreda House.

Eden council have submitted a new planning application to itself as the local planning authority for changes to the current plans it has for Voreda House.

The latest plans show further changes to windows and doors on the ground floor of Voreda House along with changes to the interior ground floor to include a plant room for equipment for the buildings operation.

The controversial Voreda House project had seen plans originally refused that resulted in changes of allegiance among the Libdem led coalition of Eden Council.

This was followed by plans approved that had to then be changed after it emerged the proposed cladding was to heavy for the building and risked the structure collapsing under the weight of the approved plans.

The latest plans will bring further delays to the completion of Voreda House as consideration of the new application will fall on the new Westmorland and Furness council to decide.

Voreda House has seen significant delays from its original completion date along with large increases in the cost of the development now set at close to £8million.

Eden council has said in a report put before Eden councils own Finance Scrutiny committee on Wednesday the 8th of March “Voreda House construction is progressing with the handover now estimated to be April 2023”.

The new planning application will now be approved before April and will result in Eden Council, never using the building as the council is set to be dissolved on the 31st of March and replaced by Westmorland and Furness council.

Westmorland and Furness council will then be faced with completing the Voreda House project and footing the final cost of the redevelopment started by Eden Council.
