Center Parcs For Sale for reported £5 billion

Center Parcs’ owner Brookfield has reportedly put the UK holiday resort up for sale with a a price tag of up to £5 billion.

The Canada based private equity firm is hoping to fetch between £4bn and £5bn pounds for the company. A sale in that price range would see Brookfield make a substantial profit on its initial purchase from Blackstone back in 2015 when it was valued at £2.4bn.

Center Parcs operates six major holiday villages in the UK and Ireland, in counties including Wiltshire, Bedfordshire and here in Cumbria at its site located on the A66 near Penrith at Whinfell Forest.

The company has just completed an £8 million project at the Penrith at Whinfell Forest site in the first phase of a wider £17million investment.

Center Parcs made a loss in 2021 due to the enforced closures during the Covid lockdowns but made a profit of £66 million in the year to April 2022.
