Final Countdown underway to the World Famous Dalemain Marmalade Festival

The final countdown is underway to the opening of the 21st World Original Marmalade Awards and festival at Dalemain Mansion this weekend. 

The world famous event, now in its 21st year, is back, drawing visitors and entries to the awards from across the globe — including marmalade fans from as far away as Japan and Australia.


Even the sheep getting into the Marmalade Festival spirit.

Held at the stunning Dalemain Mansion, just outside Penrith, the festival continues to celebrate the sticky citrus delight. 

Alongside the global competition and tastings, Penrith Town Centre is also getting into the marmalade spirit with some family-friendly activities on Saturday.

Profits from the Marmalade Festival will be donated to Hospice at Home with hundreds of thousands of pounds already donated over the two decades of the festival.

Entry to the at Dalemain Mansion the main hub of the 21st World Marmalade Awards festival is from 10.00am until 4.00pm on Saturday



The weekends events starts with the announcement of the world’s best marmalade in the public presentation of awards at 10am and there is lots of things to do throughout the day including; festival stalls, official meet and greet with Paddington Bear, free tasting of hundreds of Artisan marmalades (including a selection of interesting and rare citrus marmalades from around the world), children’s activities with the Girl Guides and Hospice at Home, bell ringing with Borders Mini Bells, performances by Bjamba drum band, printing with Market Place Print and a live marmalade judging of ‘The Marmalashes’, two teams of Australian and English Marmalades judged head to head by our VIP judges.


As well as this the award winning garden is springing into flower and there are displays of thousands of the Homemade entries around the mansion (tickets needed to access the house & garden), talks by our patrons Karen Jankel (daughter of Paddington writer, Michael Bond) and Ivan Day (world renowned food historian) and two Marmalade Question Time Panel Discussions (tickets needed for talks and Marmalade Question Time panels).



On Sunday (26th April) the Marmalade events continue with a Marmalade Church Service taking place at St. Andrews, Dacre, then you can pop along for a cup of tea at Dalemain and view the classic cars on display for The Classic Car ‘Drive It Day’ organised by the Wigton Motor Club which will be happening in the grounds of Dalemain immediately in front of the house between 11.00am and 2.00pm Entry to this is free of charge.
