ASDA set to open first shop in Penrith.

Bridge lane Esso petrol station is undergoing a rebrand of its forecourt shop as staff prepare to open the doors on Penrith’s first ASDA.

The rebranded Asda On The Move stores, which ASDA operates in partnership with EG Group, are designed to broaden where new and existing shoppers can purchase Asda's product range with ASDA branded products range available in Penrith from Tuesday morning as the doors open in the rebranded ASDA on the move on Bridge lane.

the supermarket giant said it aimed to have 200 ‘On The Move’ stores across the UK by the end of 2023.

An EG Group spokesperson said the business had been “very encouraged by the positive customer response” with the opening of other ASDA on the move stores at other locations of the EG Group.

An Asda spokesman has said “We have opened an average of one Asda on The Move store every two weeks” during 2022 “creating more opportunities for customers to shop for Asda products in convenient roadside and neighbourhood locations.”

“We are continuing to work closely with colleagues at EG Group to roll out this new format to more of its forecourts.”
