A 33 year old woman from the Penrith area appeared on trial before Carlisle Magistrates Court after pleading not guilty to the single charge of Failure to provide a specimen for analysis as the driver of a vehicle, following her arrest in Penrith during a police drink-driving crackdown in December.
Cumbria Police said officers taking part in Operation Limit in December received information that a woman may be driving under the influence of alcohol in the Penrith area. The vehicle was located being driven through the town and was stopped by officers during the December operation.
The driver, Victoria Jackson-Briscoe, 33, told officers she had consumed a glass of wine. Police allege that she then failed to provide a specimen of breath for analysis and was arrested at the roadside.
Jackson-Briscoe appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 8 January 2026 and entered a plea of not guilty. Her solicitor told the court that medical reports would be submitted for consideration by the court.
Leading to Magistrates releasing Jackson-Briscoe on unconditional bail to appear for trial.
She was warned by the judge that failing to attend court for the trial could result in additional charges being brought against her for contempt of court.
The trial at Carlisle majesties court held last week saw the defendant (Jackson-Briscoe) pleading not guilty to the single charge of Fail to provide specimen for analysis, but was found guilty at the trial with the majesties imposing a financial penalty of £368, and ordering the defendant be banned from driving for 14 months.
