A66 fully reopened following crash between HGV and Motorbike

Accident between HGV and Motorbike closed A66 for two hours.

The A66 was closed in both directions this afternoon following a road traffic collision between Brough and Warcop. The Air ambulance and emergency services responded to the reports of the collision that occurred shortly before 1.20pm today (25 Aug) and involved a motorcyclist and a HGV.

Long tailbacks along the A66 built as the bank holiday traffic backed up in both directions with local roads also became gridlocked as drivers searched for alternative routes to avoid the delays.

The A66 was closed for around two hours before Police reopened the road to traffic following the accident just before 4pm today.

The accident was one of three reported along the A66 today between Penrith and Scotch Corner.
