A NEW Lounge restaurant is set to open in the Penrith New Squares on the aptly named Brewery Lane

A NEW Lounge restaurant is set to open in the Penrith New Squares on the aptly named Brewery Lane.


Loungers plc, the West Country-based restaurant group, is opening a new site in Penrith’s New Squares and will occupy a row of units in Brewery Lane. The new café bar will occupy two large units that have remained vacant since the New Squares development was completed a decade ago.

Loungers PLC operates the “Lounge” chain that it describes as a "home-from-home", offering delicious food and drink menus available all day, every day.

The chains informal café bars offer long lazy breakfasts, brunch and lunch, or a relaxed dinner and drinks. 

Lounges was founded in 2002 and in August 2022, celebrated its 20th anniversary of the opening of the Original Lounge in Bristol.

Nick Collins, chief executive at Loungers recently said “we are excited about our ongoing roll-out programme and the opportunity to bring our culture and hospitality to around 34 new locations in the coming year”.

Loungers PLC are currently advertising for staff for its new Lounge opening in Penrith. 

The company has also applied to Westmorland and Furness Council for a premises licence for its new Lounge at Unit B1 and B2 New Squares. To serve alcohol between the hours of 10am and midnight daily 

The Lounge is the second national chain to be preparing to open in Penrith over the next few months with a national retail chain also announcing its new store opening in September in New Squares over the last week.
