National Highways are removing the 40mph speed limit on the A66 near Penrith over for the festive period.
The roadworks between M6 junction 40 and Center Parcs will be cleared along with the 40mph speed restrictions from Tuesday 23 December in time for the Christmas traffic.
The speed limit is in place currently to protect road users and National Highways workforce accessing sites along the route as part of preparation work for the A66 upgrade.
National Highways said “over the Christmas period our staff won't be working so we're able to remove them safely”.
The roadworks and speed limits will be put back in place on Monday 5th January.
