With no official town bonfire or fireworks events planned in Penrith again this year the Penrith Young Farmers are once again holding a bonfire and fireworks display for the town tonight (Wednesday 5th November) from 6:30pm that they promise will be even bigger and better than last years event.

The bonfire and fireworks display will take place at the old football field on Inglewood Road with the kind permission of the Threlfell family. The bonfire will be lit at 6:30pm followed by the Fireworks display.
Hot and Cold food and drinks will be on sale and donations on the gate for entry.

Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service has issued some advice on enjoying bonfire night safely, a spokesperson for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: "We recommend attending professional firework displays.”
"Professional events will have full risk assessments in place, with things like escape routes, first aid and emergency firefighting equipment to hand.”
"If you are setting off your own at home, only buy products from reputable retailers displaying the official CE mark.”
"Light them at arm’s length, using a taper to protect yourself, and stand well back once lit.”
"Never return to a lit firework until it has gone off.”
