Yellow Weather Warning issued for Strong Winds on Wednesday

Another yellow weather warning for wind has been issued for Cumbria on Wednesday, with the Met Office warning people are to expect disruption to travel.

The Met Office has issued the yellow weather warning for wind throughout Cumbria and the North West, and Scotland, which is expected to last from 9am until 5pm, Wednesday, January 31.

People have been warned to expect 'strong winds are likely to cause some disruption to travel on Wednesday with wind speeds of up 85mph forecast across some parts of the UK speeds in Cumbria are expected to see gusts of around 65mph. Scotland is expected to see the more powerful gusts throughout Wednesday.

Some bus and train services may be affected, with journeys taking longer.

Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport expected with delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges.

Damage to trees is also possible along with loss of power and other services.
