Westmorland and Furness Council leaders festive message for Christmas and New Year

Westmorland and Furness Council leader Jonathan Brook has issued a festive message for Christmas and New Year.

Cllr Brook said: “I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the residents of Westmorland and Furness an enjoyable and peaceful Christmas. Hopefully it’s a time to relax and enjoy the company of family and friends.”

“We should also remember and pay thanks to all those who continue to work and provide vital services over the festive period, often to the most vulnerable members of our society. Merry Christmas to you all.”

“I’d like to wish everyone in Westmorland and Furness, all the very best for the New Year and hope it will be 12 months which we can look back on fondly and with pride.”

“I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributes in whatever way, to make this such a special and unique part of the world.

“That includes all my colleagues and staff at Westmorland and Furness Council, to our partner agencies, voluntary organisations and many, many others who all make a valued contribution.”

“All years have their challenges and at the council, I think we have met this year’s head on! Now, we must continue to build on the foundations we have put in place.

“Demand for our services, particularly in supporting vulnerable young people and adults, has never been greater and this is a situation that will continue into the new year and for many years ahead.

“Our challenge for 2026 and beyond, is to continue to innovate and find new, resourceful ways of providing services, that our residents and communities need.”

“Through collaboration with our partners, we will continue to champion Westmorland and Furness and work hard to ensure a bright future for all in our society.”
