Watch moment Vandals Carry out 5am Graffiti Attack on Towns Pavements

A group of apparent eco campaigners in yellow jackets have carried an early morning spate of vandalism spraying graffiti on the pavements around Penrith.

The group were caught and confronted by Penrith business owner Karen Radcliffe as they spray painted slogans onto the recently cleaned pavements in Devonshire Street, Middlegate and Angel square this morning at around 5am.

The orange graffiti stencilled onto the pavements by the group bearing slogans including “We’re in a jam” and “Preserve the planet” along with the logo used by the Extinction Rebellion group.

In the past when graffiti like those sprayed today have appeared the local Extinction Rebellion group have claimed responsibility and said they are non-permanent.

Attempts to wash some of them from the town’s pavements by local traders today has failed to do little more than smudge the graffiti from the sandstone pavements.

It’s understood Cumbria Police are investigating the incident.
