Warning Issued over Dangers of Playing on Frozen Ponds

The freezing temperatures over the last few days with more to come have created frozen ponds and other bodies of frozen water leading to concerns over dangerous activities seen happening in the area today.

Penrith Fire Station have issued a warning to parents to talk with children about the dangers of ice covered ponds that might look fun to play but pose a danger.

The warning comes after children in the local area have been playing on a frozen deep drainage pond on a housing estate.

Penrith Fire Station spokesperson said “The ice covered ponds might look fun to play on but please stay safe over these next few days”
