Voting in the 2024 General Election has Just Finished as Polling Stations Close

Polling Stations across the UK have just closed and in the Penrith and Solway Constituency ballot boxes will now begin the journey to Workington for the count to begin in the 2024 General Election.

The Eight Candidates who have spent the last few weeks battalions it out for your votes will face a long night as a team of people validate the ballots and count the votes for each candidate before the returning officer Andrew Seeking announces the results and which candidate will be the areas new MP.

The results are expected subject to any recounts and delays to be announced at around 4am for the Penrith and Solway Constituency.

Exit polls nationally are forecasting Labour as the party that will form the next government.

Locally polls indicate that Labour is expected to win the Penrith and Solway Seat with a forecast 45% of the votes although voter turnout is understood to be lower than previous general elections in the local area.
