Ultra-fast broadband provider Fibrus celebrates 150,000 customers

The company, which is bringing Full Fibre broadband to Cumbria and rural Northern Ireland has reached the milestone of its 150,000th customer.

Since connecting its first customer in Northern Ireland in 2019, Fibrus has hit the figure just four years after bringing its network to Cumbria from its Penrith base at Newton Rigg.

In November 2022, Fibrus was then awarded the Project Gigabit contract, a £108m gigabit-capable broadband scheme aiming to improve connectivity in rural Cumbria.

Keith and Maxine Brown, from Staveley, were among the first customers connected in 2023 and have just renewed their contract three years on.

Back then, they were looking for a new provider and were delighted with the efficient installation process and have been enjoying the improved speeds they are getting from their new fibre broadband service.

Now, Keith says they are still just as satisfied with the service in 2026.

"We've had it for three years, and it's been great," he said.

"It's been excellent, we've had no problems with it at all.

"It's a lot faster. You check the speed occasionally - it is very fast.

"Fibrus has always been very helpful; they're just a phone call away."

The Browns are not alone in praising Fibrus's customer service - the company currently scores 4.5 on consumer review site Trustpilot.

Colin Hutchinson, Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of Fibrus Group, said: "Reaching 150,000 customers across our network is a major milestone for Fibrus and a remarkable achievement for a business that only connected its first customer in 2019.

"It speaks to the hard work of our teams, the strength of demand for reliable Full Fibre broadband, and the impact our network is already making in communities across the region. We remain focused on delivering the best possible service for our customers as we continue to grow.

"Hearing positive feedback from customers, such as Keith and Maxine Brown, who have been with us since the early stages of the rollout, is incredibly rewarding and reflects the commitment of our teams working across the county every day."
