As the big day approaches fast strange objects in the skies around the world are grabbing everyone’s attention but with just 76 hours until Santa will be taking to the skies and flying over Penrith to make his Christmas Deliveries to those on his nice list, Father Christmas will not be turned away or chased by RAF Jets as he enters UK air space and tries to land after the Civil Aviation Authority have given Santa the green light to fly in and land on Christmas Eve.
Father Christmas now has all the required approvals to fly on Christmas Eve. The Civil Aviation Authority has also confirmed that his sleigh has passed vital Elf and safety checks ahead of taking to the air.
Santa told us he requested the flight clearance for the UK after a few issues in America over the last two weeks when his elves have been causing a spot of bother in the skies over the the USA in the last few weeks when checking his flight path and delivery routes.
Safety inspectors from the Civil Aviation Authority checked:
Presents are stowed away safely and securely.
The aircrew understand the vehicle’s elf and safety procedures.
Christmas cheer is handled by qualified experts.
The sleigh bells ring at an acceptable decibel level.
Andrew McConnell, Deputy Director of Communications at the UK Civil Aviation Authority, said:
“We’ve made a list and checked it twice and Santa is now cleared to fly on Christmas Eve.
“But he won’t be the only one in the skies this festive season. If you’re jetting off on a Christmas getaway, it’s important to know your passenger rights before you travel.
"The Civil Aviation Authority works to keep the aviation industry safe every day of the year - including Christmas!"
For all those not flying by sleigh this Christmas the Civil Aviation Authority is encouraging passengers to 'Know Before You Go'. This Christmas is expected to be the busiest for flying since before the pandemic. These six festive tips will help make flying easier:
Know that if your flight is delayed your airline should look after you.
Be aware that if your flight is cancelled you should be offered a choice of a refund or alternative travel arrangements.
Check your baggage allowance and contents in advance
Know that lost or damaged luggage is the responsibility of the airline.
Check your airline’s lithium batteries policy before you take off.
When packing know that party poppers are banned from being flown in aircraft, Christmas crackers can only be packed in their original packaging.
For everyone staying home and enjoying Christmas in Penrith this year Santa has said that even if the A66 is closed his ride will get across the North Pennines so he can make his deliveries thanks to his flight clearance by the CAA that will let him fly to every part of the country with the help of his new carrot powered elfla as he calls it although it looks very much like 9 reindeers and a sleigh to us.
Santa said that he is not sure how often he will need to charge up his elfla so has been asking for carrots to be left out to help him charge on the go on Christmas Eve.
Santa will be carrying our Penrith.Town Santa tracker with him on Christmas Eve so you can track his journey around Penrith on Tuesday night.
