The annual town meeting has just got underway at Unit 2, Church House on Friargate. With members of the community as well as Town councillors attending but two town councils have been refused access to attend the meeting by council staff and sent away.
Cllr Dan Jayson and Cllr Barbara Jayson both Libdem town council members were met at the door by council staff and refused entry to take part in the meeting.
Both said they would return to try and attend the full council meeting that starts at 7pm after the annual parish meeting has concluded.
Council staff said it’s the law, they could not attend as they do not live in Penrith.
