The A6 Middlegate through into Devonshire street is closed from for emergency repairs to allow Westmorland and Furness Highways to carry out sign removal and installation along with repairs of the footway.
The road will be closed today (Wednesday 15th October) between 8am to 4:30pm.
The works by Westmorland and Furness Highways are located on the footpath alongside tithe A6 Middlegate Penrith from the U3522 Burrowgate junction in a Southerly direction until its U3501 Little Dockray junction or for approximately 20m.
Diversions for all traffic heading South along the A6 are via Burrowgate, Friargate, Benson Row and Roper Street.
