Thousands Filled the Streets of Penrith For the Winter Droving.
This year’s Winter Droving in Penrith has been hailed a huge success as thousands of people visited Penrith for the annual event organised by Eden Arts.
Lord Inglewood spoke to a vip group this afternoon at an event to thank supporters and Sponsors of the Winter Droving event. He highlighted the long history the Winter Droving represents and the important historic role Penrith held centuries ago when the Droving was the practice of walking livestock over long distances to market.
Todays Winter Droving was enjoyed by crowds from across the Globe with one couple who lined the street to watch the parade this evening having travelled from New Zealand for the Penrith Winter Droving after watching the event online in 2022.
Kevin Beaty Chairman of Eden Arts thanked the Eden Arts team and all the volunteers for the hard work that goes into holding the annual event in the Town.
Among the entertainment again this year was the popular Penrith Twining Association giving visitors the change to have a good moan about Penrith all in the spirit of good fun they assured us.
Street performers and music filled the streets through the day along with a few unsuspecting members of the public who became part of the acts from dancing to juggling.
As night fell the crowds lined the parade route though Penrith to watch the spectacle of Light Fire and Music pass through Penrith.
From the Penrith Town team to the Eden Arts team and all involved in the 2023 The Winter Droving well done on another amazing spectacle and day of celebration in Penrith.
