The Ride Across Britain cycle events travels across the UK from Lands End to John O’Groats in 9 stages.
Stage 5 the 116.4 miles stage running from Haydock to Carlisle will on Wednesday the 11th September see cyclist tackle the steep climb over Shap Fell as they travel along the A6 through Shap, Hackthorpe, Clifton, Eamon Bridge crossing the A66 it’s expected from early afternoon Cyclists will then travel through Penrith and out towards Carlisle via the A6 along Scotland road.
Those taking part in the Ride Across Britain including local cyclists taking on the 9 stages from Lands End to John O’Groats will be collectively raising thousands of pounds for multiple charities across the UK.
The route will see the 100’s of cyclists taking part through Penrith travel along the following route from Kemplay Roundabout:
Bridge Lane.
Victoria Road.
King Street.
Through Market Square passing by the Musgrave Monument.
Along Cornmarket heading up Castle Gate.
Cromwell Road.
Brunswick Road.
Duke Street.
Strickland Gate.
Heading out of Penrith along Scotland Road on to Carlisle were Stage 5 will end and Stage 6 will get underway on Thursday the 15th.
The Cyclist are expected to travel through in groups across the afternoon with the first of the cyclists expected from around 1pm crossing over Kemplay Roundabout.
There are no road planned closures in operation for the Ride Across Britain as it passes through Penrith so some delays could occur as cyclists pass through.
The Ride Across Britain had been an annual event but in 2022 became a biannual event.
