Excitement is building as Skelton Show prepares to mark its 130th anniversary, with organisers promising a bigger and better celebration than ever before. Set in the idyllic surroundings of the Old Park at Hutton-in-the-Forest near Penrith, just three miles from the M6 (Junction 41), the Skelton Show returns on Saturday, 4th July.
Plans are well underway for a great family day out, combining tradition, competition and entertainment. Schedules are now available and online entries are officially open via Showing Scene for horses, livestock, vintage vehicles, hounds and the industrial tent classes, giving competitors the opportunity to secure their place early. Entries close 19th June.
There is still time to book space in the ever-popular Craft & Gifts marquee as an exhibitor and the bustling Food Hall, where visitors will be able to enjoy live cookery demonstrations from some of the region’s top chefs. Bookings can be made online, or by contacting a member of the show’s friendly committee for further information.
Behind the scenes, organisers are assembling a truly bumper programme of attractions. Highlights will include thrilling displays from Tom Longdon and his renowned sheepdogs, fast-paced scurry racing and the much-loved Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling and this year we are proudly hosting the Under-18 Junior World Championship.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet owls from the Owl Trust and, a new addition for our show, will be able to cuddle the much-admired Bingfield Alpacas. Alongside this, hands-on circus workshops from Circus Oz promise fun for all ages, while part of the Forty Farms outdoor exhibition will be on display, with photographer Amy Bateman attending in person. The mounted police will once again join us as will the North Cumberland Foxhounds and Cumbria Beagles proudly helping to keep tradition alive.
Skelton Show 2026 is shaping up to be a landmark celebration not to be missed. Whether attending as a competitor or a visitor, everyone is warmly invited to be part of this special anniversary event. Since its beginnings in the late 1800s, the show has remained true to its agricultural roots - continuing to flourish while proudly preserving the traditions and community spirit at its heart.
