Rishi Sunak set to call a general election for 4th July

The Prime Minister is expected to call a general election to be held on the 4th July in the next few hours.

It’s understood ministers had cancelled plans for a cabinet meeting taking place now that will see the PM make the announcement of his intention to call the General Election.

The surprise move comes after days of rumours the prime minister could go to the country earlier than previously thought.
