Reminder to Check Smoke Alarms after Four Fire Crews Deal with Penrith House Fire

Fire crews were called out this morning (Tuesday 6th January) at 10am to a house fire in Pategill, both appliances from Penrith were mobilised in response to the call.

On arrival crews found a well developed kitchen fire that was starting to rapidly spread to the rest of the house.

The incident commander quickly called on further support to deal with the fire with two appliances from Shap and Lazonby responding.

Crews fought the fire with four Breathing Apparatus wearers, one Hose Reel Jet and one main jet stopping it spreading to the rest of the house and risking spreading to neighbouring properties.

Penrith Fire Station said “You may see an increased presence of Fire Service vehicles around the area over the next few days carrying out safe and well visits making sure everyone has working smoke alarms.”
