Prominent Penrith Town Centre Shop to go Under the Hammer at Auction this Month

Another prominent building in Penrith Town Centre is set to go under the hammer this month, joining a growing list of town centre properties currently for sale.

The prominent former Woolworths building on Middlegate, now occupied by B&M, will go under the hammer at auctioned later this month with a guide price of £550,000. The sale will not affect the existing business, as B&M committed to continuing to trade from the shop after recently signed a new five-year lease on the property.

The two-storey building, located in it’s prime position in the town centre, was originally constructed by Woolworths in the 1930s who traded there for almost 80 years until the company’s closure in 2008. B&M moved into the premises shortly afterwards and continues to operate from the site.

The property is described as a substantial retail premises of approximately 1,636 sq m (17,609 sq ft), comprising ground floor retail space and first-floor ancillary accommodation. It benefits from rear access via Bluebell Lane and is situated just 50 metres from the Bluebell Lane public car park.

The sale is being handled by Acuitus, one of the UK’s leading commercial property auctioneers, with the auction taking place on 30th October.
