A member of the Eden Neighbourhood policing team moved on a ‘dubious seller’ in Penrith on Saturday (30th November) the person was selling copies of the Big Issue located outside the entrance to Penrith, Marks & Spencer’s in the shop’s carpark area.
According to the publications website they have only one official vendor of the Big Issue in Cumbria who’s location for vending is outside Marks & Spencer on English Street in Carlisle.
Eden Police said “This is such an important homeless charity at this time of year and every penny counts.”
“Please take care to ensure your Big Issue seller is genuine and has their I.D badge on display.”
Others have been seen over the last month around Penrith selling the magazine, alongside a growing number of individuals sitting in shop doorways and on street corners begging around the town having been observed getting dropped off in cars on a morning and collected later in the day.
