Police Seize Vehicle of Disqualified Driver on A6 Near Clifton

On Monday afternoon (5th August), Police stopped a vehicle travelling on the A6 north of Clifton police pulled the vehicle with two males onboard, off the road into a lay-by to carry out checks on the driver.

Checks on the male driver showed that he is currently disqualified from driving. Officers have reported him for this offence and also driving without insurance. His vehicle was seized by police and uplifted by contractors for Cumbria Police at around 5:15 on Tuesday.

The driver will now appear in court for the offences and could face a fine of up to £5,000, an extension to his existing ban, up to six penalty points on his driving licence, a community service order, a curfew being imposed or even 12 months imprisonment. If found guilty of driving whilst disqualified.
