Police Cordon off Penrith street as emergency crew enter property

Police and emergency services have cordoned off Brunswick square fire crews enter a property with breathing apparatus.

Four fire engines attended from Penrith, Shap, Lazonby, and Carlisle East stations along with ambulances and police vehicles that filled the street.

Police stopping vehicles and pedestrians from entering part of Brunswick square during the incident.

Cumbria Police have said they were notified at 11am to reports of a fire at a residential property on Brunswick Square.

A police spokesperson said “The Incident remains on-going and we’re assisting fire colleagues at the scene”.

Firefighters were on the scene for around one hour and 40 minutes.
