Police Close Devonshire Street Due to Falling Debris

Police have closed Devonshire Street in Penrith to vehicles and Pedestrians after receiving a report of falling debris from a building in the area.

It's understood that masonry has fallen off a chimney stack which has gone through a car rear windscreen this morning.

Cumbria Fire services are evaluating the chimney and situation.

Motorists are asked to avoid the route where possible.

Cars are able to to turn down Burrowgate, however no vehicles from Middlegate onto Devonshire Streetthrough the narrows.

Pedestrians are being diverted to walk through Little Dockray.
