Officers from the Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team were called to Sainsbury's on Friday following reports of two separate shoplifting incidents.
Police later attended the home addresses of two young people in connection with the incidents. Both individuals were dealt with by way of Community Resolutions.
A Community Resolution is an informal approach used by police to deal with low-level offences. It allows offenders to acknowledge responsibility for their actions and resolve matters without entering the formal criminal justice system.
Following the incidents, officers also met with local businesses to discuss measures aimed at helping reduce shop theft and improve retail security across the area.
The Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to work closely with businesses and the community to tackle retail crime in Penrith.
