Tuesday evening saw a rather "udderly" unexpected situation unfold at a Penrith forecourt…
It was anything but a typical evening at Davidsons Garage on Scotland Road, Penrith, as staff and customers found themselves welcoming a few four-legged visitors — a small herd of young cows!
At around 6:35pm on Tuesday, police received reports that the curious cows had been spotted wandering along the road before deciding to drop in at the petrol station — perhaps looking to top up their tanks or grab a snack from the shop.
The scene quickly drew attention, with onlookers amused by the unusual traffic jam.
Thankfully, help was at hand. A local farmer, armed with a livestock trailer, teamed up with a responding police officer to gently round up the bovine bandits. By around 7:15pm, the cows had been successfully herded into a nearby field — safe, sound, and hopefully a little less adventurous.
Police say they're making enquiries to trace the rightful owner of the cows. Anyone missing a few wayward young cows is encouraged to get in touch.
