Following the overnight snow Westmoreland and Furness Highways have been out clearing the primary roads in and around Penrith with snow ploughs and gritters.
Main roads are open around the town although many are still very slushy and slippy in patches.
Pavements through the town remain covered with snow and slippy.
The A66 remains closed between Penrith and Scotch Corner currently and the M6 open.
Most side roads and housing estates remain untreated making driving conditions difficult.
The A6 across Shap Fell is reported to be currently bad as are many rural roads not part of the primary network routes around the county.

Police advise is consider if your journey is absolutely necessary.
