Plans to move wide load at 12mph Northbound on M6 postponed

National Highways had advised Drivers to plan journey ahead of a wide load movement heading north on the M6 on Saturday.

The movement of a huge electricity transformer being carried from the port at Heysham to a holding site at Longtown was due to depart Heysham at 9am this morning (Saturday) and take around 12 hours to travel along the M6 at 12mph.

National Highways have in the last hour confirmed the operation to move the wide load has been postponed until further notice.
