Penrith to Strut into Scarecrow Fashion Season for 2026 Penrith Scarecrow Competition

Yes it’s time to start gearing up for the 2026 Penrith Scarecrow Competition and this year it returns with a bold new theme that will have the scarecrows of Penrith strutting their stuff with the latest in Scarecrow Catwalk Fashion.

Running from 11th to 26th September 2026, this year’s competition has been scheduled following community feedback last year to ensuring local schools can take part.

Taking its theme from the world-famous London Fashion Week that will take place between the 17th–21st September, Penrith will transform into a town-wide catwalk where the scarecrows of Penrith will become high-fashion icons strutting the latest imaginative and creative must have scarecrow fashion.

The announcing of the dates are being made after requests from members of the community to confirm dates and the theme to allow the creativity and planning by households, schools, businesses, community groups, and organisations all invited to design and display scarecrows that wouldn’t look out of place on a designer catwalk.

From straw berets to haute couture hay jackets, the theme encourages Penrith to “set creativity free” and make their scarecrow supermodels.

All entries will be featured on the Penrith.Town scarecrow trail map, guiding residents and visitors through the town’s to discover your creation and latest mist have scarecrow fashion.

The public will again then be able to vote for their favourite designs, turning Penrith into an interactive, open-air fashion show for all ages.

Full entry details and prize categories will be announced in July, but the early announcement has been made to give everyone plenty of time to plan, design, and build their scarecrow masterpieces.

Whether it’s glamorous, funny, futuristic, or traditional, this year’s theme promises to turn Penrith into a true celebration of community creativity and seasonal fun.

So dust off the hay, thread the needle, and start sketching those designs… as Penrith’s scarecrows prepare to hit the catwalk.
