Penrith To Become Film Set for Major Bollywood Blockbuster Next Week

Penrith is set for a brush with global cinema as a major Bollywood film production rolls into the town next Wednesday, turning the town centre into a live film set for the day.

The area around the Musgrave Monument will be the focal point of filming, with temporary road closures and traffic management measures expected while cameras capture scenes for the blockbuster.

Next weeks filming in Penrith is understood to be part of a wider UK filming schedule that has already seen the Bollywood film company filming scenes in Glasgow and Birmingham, where busy urban areas were transformed into controlled film sets.

While official details remain tightly under wraps, the production is believed to involve a high-profile Bollywood cast, with filming across the UK attracting significant attention from Bollywood fans.

Penrith will be in the spotlight as one of the world’s largest film industries brings its cameras to the town centre

The filming in Penrith is expected to be carefully managed, with access around the set controlled while scenes are recorded.

Motorists and pedestrians are being advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel through the area during the filming between 5pm and 8pm on Wednesday 8th July.

Bollywood productions are known for their scale, energy and visual spectacle, and even a single day of filming can involve large numbers of crew and cast members.

If you’re in town on Wednesday, expect something out of the ordinary — rolling cameras, overhead drones, and the unmistakable atmosphere of a major international production turning Penrith into a temporary film set.
