Penrith Retirees Raise Almost £1,500 for Cumbria Blood Bikes

Apartment Owners at Churchill Retirement Living’s Dutton Lodge development in Penrith have raised an impressive £1495.97 for local charity Blood Bikes Cumbria, through a special Winter Warmer event this week and a successful fundraising drive which began in the run-up to Christmas.

Dutton Lodge is a collection of one and two bedroom retirement apartments designed for independent living with the benefits of a sociable Owners’ Lounge, a Lodge Manager, and a 24 hour emergency Careline service.

The Winter Warmer event on Thursday 22nd February welcomed visitors to step out of the cold and into the warmth of the development’s friendly Owners’ Lounge, where they could enjoy coffee, cake and a chat in return for a small donation to the charity.

Representatives from Blood Bikes Cumbria were also there to speak to attendees about the important work they do providing emergency medical courier services to hospitals across the region. One or two lucky attendees also had a chance to saddle up on a Blood Bikes motorcycle!

Lisa Obertelli, Area Sales Manager for Churchill Retirement Living, said: “We’re delighted by the success of our Winter Warmer event and would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped us raise such a fantastic total in support of Blood Bikes since December. It’s a perfect example of the community spirit on offer here at Dutton Lodge, and how we enjoy the opportunity to give something back to the local community.”

Churchill’s Winter Warmer events took place throughout February at its retirement developments across the country, with all the money raised going towards local causes chosen by its apartment Owners and Colleagues.
