Penrith Mountain Rescue Team Called Out to Rescue Walker and Her Dog

Cumbria Police had received a call from a walker in need of assistance in Swindale on Sunday (22nd September) at 18:25 and alerted the Penrith Mountain Rescue team.

The Rescue team were unable to get in direct contact with the walker to confirm their location due to a poor phone signal in the area.

The rescue team dispatched a small group to try and find the walker in the location initially reported. Meanwhile a second team was sent to the top of the valley to act as a comms relay and provide further support if a stretcher evacuation was required.

The walker and her dog were quickly located in the area expected and escorted back down into the valley.

The rescue involved 10 volunteer members of the Penrith Mountain Rescue team in a rescue operation that lasted 4hrs 35 mins.
