A 'serious incident' at the Penrith horse trials has led to the event being cancelled for the remainder of the weekend.
British Eventing Officials have issued a short statement saying "Due to a serious incident that took place this afternoon, all competition at Penrith on 18 and 19 July has been abandoned."
The competition was taking place this weekend in Penrith at Frenchfield Farm, organised by the Northern Counties Horse Trials (NCHT).
No further details in the incident that occurred during Saturdays competition stages have been released at this time.
