Ongoing Issues with Kemplay Traffic Lights Under Investigation

National Highways have said they are investigating an issue with the traffic lights at Kemplay Bank Roundabout on the A66 at Penrith.

The traffic lights are working, but the timings aren’t operating correctly. This will likely lead to delays, especially at peak times as driver’s experience on Thursday with delays of over an hour experienced by some drivers travelling between J40 of the M6 and Kemplay Roundabout on Thursday evening.

National Highways have said they are working hard to fix the problem, which may take a week. Adding “We want to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

The ongoing issues with the traffic lights is leading to calls for them to be switched off until the ongoing issues can be resolved with some calling for them to be permanently switched off.
