Communities across Cumbria are being encouraged to nominate outstanding local volunteer groups for The King's Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS), the highest award given to local voluntary organisations in the UK and the equivalent of an MBE for volunteer groups.
The Award recognises the vital contribution made by volunteer-led organisations that are making an exceptional difference within their communities. It celebrates groups that:
Make a significant and lasting impact locally.
Place volunteers, rather than paid staff, at the heart of their organisation.
Demonstrate the highest standards in everything they do.
The King's Award for Voluntary Service shines a spotlight on the dedication, commitment and achievements of volunteer groups across the country. Award recipients receive a certificate signed by His Majesty The King, a commemorative crystal and may also be invited to attend a Royal Garden Party.
Volunteers are at the heart of communities across Cumbria, giving their time, energy and expertise to support others, tackle local challenges and improve lives. The Lord-Lieutenant's Office is keen to see these efforts recognised through nominations for this prestigious national award.
Anyone who knows an exceptional voluntary group that is making a real difference is encouraged to submit a nomination.
