A new Saturday bus service from Kirkby Stephen Station to Penrith will start this Saturday the 1st April 2023.
The new bus links in with trains operating on the Settle to Carlisle line.
Following backing from town and parish councils along the route, the bus service will initially run as part of a 16-week pilot plan in order to ascertain viability.
The route will run through Warcop, Appleby, Kirkby Thorpe and Temple Sowerby.
Funding for the trial service has been provided by Kirkby Stephen town council and some of the other parish councils along the route and the Friends of the Settle Carlisle Line.
The inaugural service will depart Kirkby Stephen Station at 9:40am and provide three return journeys throughout the course of the day.
With the first return journey departing Penrith railway station at 10:50 and other departures at 14:15 and 16:50 the lady return bus from Kirkby Stephen station to Penrith is 18:10 arriving back in Penrith at 19:14.
