A new Police and Community Support Officer (PCSO) has joined the Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT).
PCSO Aaron Baker recently joined the team, transferring from Surrey Police, and will cover the Appleby area, working alongside PCSO Ballantyne.
Having previously been a PCSO in Surrey, PCSO Baker brings with him a wealth of transferable skills as he joins the Eden team and has already been out on patrol in his patch.
Over the next few weeks he will be introducing himself to the local residents, businesses and partners.
PCSOs support the work of the constabulary by providing a visible and reassuring presence on the streets. They work closely with colleagues and partners in the community to provide an approachable uniformed presence with the aim of addressing crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour, thus improving the quality of life in local communities.
Inspector Mo Bibby, Eden NPT, said: “It’s great to see an additional PCSO join the team, as part of the Constabulary’s pledge towards Neighbourhood Policing, , as we know just how important these officers are to their communities.
"PCSO Baker has already begun connecting with residents across the community.
“He’s now part of the wider Neighbourhood Policing Team, working to understand and address local concerns in the Appleby area, including anti-social behaviour.

Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, David Allen, said: “PCSOs are incredibly important to our communities. Their role is vital in building relationships, trust and confidence in how we police.
“I’m delighted to see a PCSO Baker join Eden’s Neighbourhood Policing Team and I know he will do a brilliant job.
“As part of the Government’s Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee and Cumbria’s Neighbourhood Policing Pledge, I promised to get more visible staff, police officers and PCSOs into our communities – we are now starting to see these extra boots on the ground where they can have the most effect, in our local neighbourhoods, problem solving and working with our local communities.
"I hope that this assures the public that we are firm in our commitment to them and will deliver on our promise to get additional, extra, staff out and about preventing crime and anti-social behaviour.”
Cumbria Police said they are committed to neighbourhood policing, which remains firmly at the heart of the organisation.
