Morrisons Pharmacy in Penrith will come under new ownership on Monday 16th November and will be renamed Penrith Pharmacy.
All services currently provided by the pharmacy will continue following the change. However, it will be closed on Sunday 15th November to allow the necessary handover processes to take place.
To help with a smooth transition, customers who believe they have a prescription awaiting collection are being asked to collect it before Thursday 12th November, where possible.
The pharmacy has reassured patients that whole prescriptions will not be deleted after this date. However, additional processing may be needed to prepare them, which could cause a slight delay.
Individual prescription items that remain unavailable because of long-term wholesaler or manufacturer shortages cannot be transferred to the new company. These outstanding items will have to be cancelled, and the pharmacy says doctors’ surgeries have been informed.
Patients using repeat dispensing, also known as batch prescriptions, should continue to collect their medication on the date already given and should not attend early.
The change follows Morrisons’ announcement in February of plans to sell some of its 120 in-store pharmacies as part of cost-cutting measures.
