Penrith Town Council Elections will take place on 4
May 2023. Registered voters in Penrith will be receiving a poll card letter
in March.
A number of changes will be taking place in the way
elections happen starting with the Poll cards that are changing to make sure
that all the information you need about voter ID is included. Your poll card
will now be an enveloped letter not a card.
Changes to legislation mean that voters attending the
polling station must bring with them a form of photographic identification in
order to vote in elections with the Penrith Town council elections on the 4th
of May 2023 the first since the new legislation was passed by Parliament.
A poll will only take place in the Town or Town council
wards where the number of nominations received by the deadline for close of
nominations, is greater than the number of seats.
Anyone who votes at a polling station must have their ID
checked by the staff in order to cast a vote in the town council elections on
the 4th May 2023.
Staff at polling station will ask voters to show them a form
of acceptable voter identification. If you do not have an acceptable form of ID
with you, they will not be able to issue you with a ballot paper.
The officially accepted forms of photo identification when
voting at a polling station are:
