A planning application has been submitted for the temporary change of use of part of the car park at Penrith Golf Club to allow the siting of a sales cabin and associated signage for Story Homes’ new Fairways housing development.
The proposals include the installation of a temporary sales cabin, landscaping, parking, and a range of advertising materials. These consist of two parking information signs, one totem sign, two flags, hoarding panels and door vinyls fixed to the cabin.
The cabin will remain in place at Penrith Golf Club car park from 2025 until the opening of the development’s show home, scheduled for April 2026. The Penrit Golf club has licensed the car park area to Story Homes on a temporary basis after the club spoke at the planning committee meeting in Kendal in support of the 194 home development last June.
Story Homes has also announced a launch event at Penrith Golf Club on Thursday 4 September, running from 10:30am until 8:00pm, when the first release of houses on the development will be available to reserve.
The Fairways development will deliver 194 new properties on land off Inglewood Road, offering a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes and will link with the first phrase of the Fairways development on Centurion Drive off Salkeld Road built by Story Homes.
Adam McNally, senior land and planning manager for Story Homes Cumbria and Scotland, said: “This exciting new scheme follows on from our successful first development phase of The Fairways, as well as our popular Brougham Fields development in Carleton, Penrith which quickly sold out.
“Phase two of The Fairways will enable us to continue to bring more of our high-quality homes to the local area to help meet local demand for housing and economic growth ambitions, and will deliver a number of benefits to the local community, including affordable homes, improvements to the local playing fields and new open space.”
