National Highways have closed the A66 in both directions to high sided vehicles between the A1M (Scotch Corner) and the M6 (Penrith) due to strong winds.
Road users travelling across the Pennines are advised to plan ahead and consider alternate routes such as the A69 with winds forecast through the rest of Sunday afternoon for the area the closure is expected to remain in place until at least Sunday evening.
