More Fly Tipping in Penrith as Large Amount of Waste Dumped at Recycling Centre

More fly tipping in Penrith as a large amount of items have been dumped in the Morrisons recycling centre today.

Items including furniture and kitchen electrical items along with other waste have been dumped blocking access to most of the recycling bins in the recycling centre at the entrance to the supermarket carpark.

The recycling centre was until last year managed by Penrith Town Council, but they gave up the management passing responsibility to Westmorland and Furness Council for the management and cleaning of the recycling centre.

A large amount of rubbish was dumped on Saturday just outside Penrith on Mile Lane blocking part of the road in what a member of Westmorland and Furness Highways team said is a growing issue of rubbish dumped blocking roads and access.

Calls for CCTV at recycling centres that have faced repeated flytipping have been made by now former town councillors and local organisations, but Eden Council and Westmorland and Furness Council have not acted to install cctv at its recycling centres.
