Monday Night J40 Slip Road and M6 Lane Closures

Access to Junction 40 will be closed overnight from 10pm on Monday through until 6am Tuesday along with lane closures on the M6 North of J40 on both sides of the motorway. Access onto the M6 North Bound and the Southbound exit from the M6 onto J40 will be closed along with the lane closures to allow Network Rail to carryout work on the Westcoast mainline bridge across the M6 at Penrith.

The closure will see traffic diverting via Junction 41 along the A6 through Penrith to join the A66.

Alongside the M6 J40 closure, Haweswater Road will also have roadworks and traffic lights from Monday morning at 8:00am until Tuesday at 4:00pm to allow Westmorland and Furness Council contractors to carry out an assessment to determine the potential removal of an existing vehicle restraint system barrier. The assessment will take place on the verge on the left-hand side of the carriageway heading towards Gillwilly Industrial Estate.

Further South on the M6, junction 38 at Tebay will close for carriageway resurfacing works between the 24th March and 1st April by Westmorland and Furness Council on the A685 between Junction 38 and Tebay roundabout.

Westmorland and Furness council have confirmed the road will be closed from 7am until 12 Midnight daily from 24th March till 1st April.

Diversion route is via the unrestricted section of the A685 (Brough), A66 (Penrith), A6, B6261 (Orton) and B6260.
