Mile Lane Fully Closed to All Traffic and Pedestrians for 14 Days from Monday

Mile Lane will be closed to all traffic, pedestrian and cycle access for 14 days from Monday (23rd June) to allow electricity northwest to carry out works along the full length of Mile Lane.

The road traffic order issued by Westmorland and Furness Council prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along Mile Lane, from its junction with the B5288 Greystone Road, extending to the junction with the A66.

The restriction expected to be in place for a duration of 14 days, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

The alternative diversion route is via the B5288 Greystone Road, A592 and the A66. Westmorland and Furness Council said “it will not be safe to maintain access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists throughout the restriction.”

The work is understood to be linked to work carried out last year by Electricity North west that closed Mile Lame for the installation of new high voltage cables between Newton Gate substation and Rheged.
