Met Offices Issue Yellow Weather Warning for Most of Cumbria

A yellow weather warning has been placed across parts of Cumbria today, as the Met Office predicts strong winds may cause 'disruption'.


The Met Office issued the warning this morning for strong winds across most of England including most of Cumbria.

The Met Office say that 'strong winds may cause some disruption through Monday'.


A depression will move east just to the north of Scotland through Monday and will bring a swath of strong winds to Northern Ireland, Wales and much of England. Gusts of between 40 and 45 mph are expected widely inland with isolated gusts as high as 50 to 55 mph on exposed coasts and near to heavier showers.


The warning covers Penrith  along with western and southern parts of Cumbria and is in place until 10pm tonight (Monday 15th April)


The Met Office Warning says with strong winds it’s likely that commenters will face delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport. some bus and train services are likely affected, with some journeys taking longer.

Households and businesses may experience short term loss of power and other services is possible.
